Winds reaching 105 miles per hour damaged several homes near Mabson.

A pontoon boat was tossed into a brushy area when a tornado struck Dale County on March 9, 2024.DALE COUNTY, Ala. - The National Weather Service rated EF 1 the tornado that struck rural Dale County early Saturday. Tornadoes are rated from EF-0, the weakest, to EF-5.

The twister, with winds forecasters estimate reaching 105 miles per hour, damaged several homes near Mabson, a small community about 10 miles east of Ozark. Up to 8 inches of rain fell across southeast Alabama as the system that spawned that tornado passed, causing isolated flooding.
