Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) A civil complaint filed in federal court this week accuses Katherine Mott — owner of the Crescent Beach property in Greece, Monroe's Rest

Wed, March 13th 2024 at 6:15 PMKatherine Mott-Formicola, local restaurateur who recently purchased the iconic Crescent Beach property in Greece, is facing a lawsuit from Five Star Bank accusing her of taking part in the check kiting scheme.

According to the complaint, Mott used numerous bank accounts she and partner Robert Harris held at several local banks, including Five Star Bank. The lawsuit claims Mott would write a check on a Kinecta Federal Credit Union account, which had insufficient funds, and deposit the check into a Five Star Bank account — temporarily increasing the cash balance in the Five Star account to create the appearance of additional cash.
