The firm apologised to its customers for any 'inconvenience' caused

Residents in several areas with G74 and G75 postcodes were affected on Wednesday evening by the sudden loss of electricity for up to two hours from around 7.30pm.

An SP Energy Networks spokesperson said: “Last night at around 7.20pm, some of our customers in the G74 and G75 area of East Kilbride experienced a power cut due to a cable fault. Our engineers attended site immediately and had power restored to all customers by 8.45pm.

“Work to repair the fault is currently being carried out within the local area.
