"Some of the housing stock we've got is so appalling, and it's not just Windsor Court [in Glenorchy in Hobart's north], I have got other examples which I choose not to name," Ms Hickey told ABC Radio Hobart. "And then you've got other people coming into your office crying and pleading with you to get them into the system, and you know there's nowhere to put them."And then you go and visit the place and it's [infested] so everyone's suffering from a cockroach problem.
She questioned the effectiveness of that solution when people could not afford pest control or lived in large blocks of units, and said the Government had a"duty of care".
