Melbourne's population is booming but a new report has found Victoria's capital is falling behind other global cities in key areas like housing affordability and infrastructure, with high taxes also a concern.
The report found Melbourne had a lot to crow about when it came to food, arts, sports and entertainment, with the city placed fourth for culture. "During the worst cost-of-living crisis we've seen in many decades, it's taking on average $11,000 - $16,000 a year to run a car, which is five times more expensive than taking public transport.
"The report shows Melbourne has a lot to be proud of, with our culture, healthcare, services, air quality and public space remaining some of the best in the world," he said.
