Woman, 23, & man, 46, arrested as cops probe ‘fraud and prevention of lawful burial’ at three funeral homes

POLICE investigating a funeral home today released a devastating update after removing bodies and ashes from the property.Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin said: "This will of course be devastating news for the families and loved ones and they have my heartfelt condolences."A 46-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of prevention of a lawful and decent burial, fraud by false representation and fraud by abuse of position.

One widow was told she needed to identify her husband's body eight months after he died as he was still in a freezer at the funeral home.Police revealed more than 1,000 calls had been received from concerned members of the public.- Cordons put in place and officers attend at Legacy's three premises - two in Hull and one in nearby Beverley- Families of all 35 deceased contacted. Specialists from the National Crime Agency are drafted in.
