Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday inaugurated two commissions of inquiry into cases of political violence and misappropriation of public assets during the past administration. The commissions are expected to investigate cases of misappropriation of public property, political violence, and missing persons between the period of 2015 and 2023.
The first Commission headed by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, will look into cases of violence and missing persons between 2015 and 2023 while the second Commission under Justice Faruk Lawan, has the mandate to examine cases of misappropriation of public assets. According to him, “Political violence is a major set back to democracy worldwide. It leads to lost of lives and property as well as mistrust on the part of the people and those in power.
The inquiry may equally reopen the case of political violence allegedly orchestrated by Alhasaan Ado Doguwa, member representing Doguwa/Tudun-Wada federal constituency during the last general election.
