Over-inflated assessed values. Contract building yourself for a new house for HALF the price of some near 100% marked-up housing farm built house or buying a over-priced USED house that more than likely WILL need work.

We need basic income. Look at the billions trump is frittering away. Look at the 100 mil he’s using to play golf. We shouldn’t have to worry about money so much.

Besides the fact that the wealth income gap is larger now than in the Great Depression!

They can’t even afford to move from one rental to another! They want 1st & last month’s rent plus a deposit which is more than folks living from paycheck to paycheck can afford! Proof positive that we live in a nation of indentured servitude 😡

Thanks to greedy corporate pirates that only care about getting richer on the back of the helpless.

And the .01% hold empty real estate like several vacation homes were we could ALL live!

not in Charleston....elected officials are so giddy over bringing Boeing, Mercedes and Volvo here without making them responsible in providing affordable housing, long time residents being pushed out due to skyrocketing COL.

Richest nation on earth LOL

I don’t believe this one bit. Americans have a spending priority issue, can’t afford the house but has to drive a nice car, or have the newest phone, or smart watch or whatever else. At the same time racking up debt making it impossible to save/afford a house.

Define “average American worker”. We couldn’t afford a house until we were 28. We also didn’t spend $375 a month on cell phones and $125 on cable/streaming services.

The average American worker finds it more economically feasible to rent rather than own. Guess you'd prefer to spend beyond our means and deal with the fallout at a later. Democratic spending practices don't work for average American workers.

This is what happens when the cost of living goes up by raising taxes and minimum wage.

I'd just move to Mexico then. Don't tell Donny Trump though. He secretly loves the Chimichangers. Love Mrs Tuppence x

I can't and my wife took my house. oh well easy come easy go. ionsanity. I hate apartments.

Thank Real Estate Companies and investors. They buy up house, above asking price, so they can rent them out. That means a person trying to buy can’t compete.

No lie

But they claim the economy is better than ever. I don’t know know WHO believes that lie?!

yet productivity has increased 80-90% in recent years, with corresponding increases in earnings for the top 1%, but 10% increase for the rest of us- 8 people hold over 50% of global wealth? Growing income gap is biggest threat we face as a country and planet

As soon as the DEMS are in control we're all going to get a house for free. LOL

supply and demand. obviously someone is buying them, otherwise the price would be lower.

If they can afford rent they can afford to own...

Because ~50% of their income is spent on taxes...

Sad and not surprising!

...then quit settling at “average”
