Oldham

Temporary outages will hit parts of Oldham throughout the week.

Almost 200 homes in Oldham could experience power cuts this week, power company Electricity North West has warned. Houses and businesses in Saddleworth, Royton and Chadderton may see their electricity supply interrupted during the day for planned improvement works on the local network.

Electricity North West confirmed that around 60 homes in Saddleworth will experience the “planned power cut” today . The disruption will allow engineers to “safely work on the cables that provide electricity” to homes and businesses in the area. They are aiming to complete most works by 1pm and the last homes will come back onto the network before 5pm.

The firm apologised for the interruption in a statement online, which said: “We appreciate your patience while our engineers carry out a planned power cut in your area, this is to improve the reliability of your electricity supply.”On Friday , up to 104 homes will experience power cuts in Chadderton North and 29 homes in Royton. The Chadderton North postcodes are: OL9 0NA, OL9 0NE, OL9 0LY, OL9 0NF, OL9 0NX, OL9 0LZ, OL9 0LF, OL9 0J and OL9 0QL.
