The flats would replace a huge warehouse

A new housing estate could be built in Blackpool. Plans have been unveiled for flats to replace a huge warehouse in the seaside town.

Planning permission is being sought to demolish the industrial building and build 23 homes. Blackpool Council is set to consider the scheme and decide if planning approval should be given. The new homes would be built in South Shore. An outline application has been submitted seeking permission to demolish an existing warehouse on Stanmore Avenue and replace it with buildings containing the flats.Applicant Colin Blanthorn says the site is situated in a mixed area which contains some homes as well as commercial buildings and a car park to the rear. The warehouse earmarked for demolition dates back to around 1935.

However, it adds: “The proposed development would be more in keeping with the general residential area of Stanmore Avenue and the adjacent streets.”
