Labor has come under fire over claims it inflated its negative gearing savings by up to $8 billion.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics denies it produced data showing that only seven per cent of property investors bought new homes, figures Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen has repeatedly used to back his

party’s housing policy. Mr Bowen is defending the costings, saying the source of the figures was the Parliamentary Budget Office, which had consulted with the ABS and the RBA over owner-occupier lending data.

tomwconnell Bowenchris He is criticising Labor for being honest about not everyone can be winners or come out better off. I hate that not everyone can be a winner however I will take the guy telling me there will be losers over the guy telling me everyone gets a trophy.

tomwconnell Bowenchris Does anyone actually watch this tripe?
