Green belt land will be released for the new homes.

An area of green belt land in Salford is set to be released so it can become a new housing estate. Peel Land has submitted an application to build 295 homes on land east of Boothstown, next to RHS Bridgewater, off Leigh Road.

The land will lose its green belt status under the Greater Manchester Places for Everyone scheme, which Salford council adopted in March. Places for Everyone is a plan to build more homes around the region, and help to create jobs and drive investment. In Salford, Places for Everyone could lead to up to 28,000 new homes being built in total. Councils around Greater Manchester have adopted the plan, other than Stockport which is not part of it.

If approved, the work will include creating new play parks and active travel routes, as well as improved connectivity to the RHS Garden Bridgewater and the Bridgewater Canal.
