The South Australian government said it would decide on an action plan for several apartments in Adelaide’s inner west, which have been empty for two years amid the country’s housing crisis. But residents who live in the apartment complex on Sinclair Ct in Camden Park said they may be evicted if the homes, owned by the SA Housing Authority, were demolished. Some have been living in the building for more than 10 years.

Ritchie said squatters had been living in some of the empty homes, making his family and other neighbours feel unsafe. “It’s horrible. It’s not livable. Everything about this place drains you,” he said. SA Housing Minister Nick Champion said the government should review numerous empty apartments across the Adelaide city for possible renewal. He has asked the SA Housing Authority for a report on the Camden Park units to decide whether they should be fixed or demolished.
