Ten complex-care housing units are coming to Burnaby to support people with overlapping mental-health, addiction and housing challenges.
The voluntary housing program offers enhanced, integrated support services, including overnight care, Doherty told council late last month.“They are individuals who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness, surviving day-to-day and not able to attend to their healthcare needs,” Doherty said. “This is really integrated. It’s one team working together with individuals,” she said, noting on-site staff are trained in concurrent disorders and cultural safety.
BC Housing plans to lease or purchase the land and develop and build the project, and then it would provide access to operating funding for the property management service.
