Hundreds of people in this region faced losing their homes through so-called 'no fault' evictions

Nearly 500 Merseyside renters were threatened with losing their homes through a “no-fault” eviction last year - after the government ran out of time to get them banned before the election.

Section 21 orders allow landlords to remove a tenant without providing any reason, and with just two months' notice - with charities warning they mean renters can be “turfed onto the streets at a landlords’ whim”. In Merseyside, more households in Liverpool were served with a Section 21 order last year than anywhere else, a total of 151. followed by Wirral .

Last year 80 households were served with a Section 21 order in Knowsley. Considering the area's lower number of rented properties, that works out to 31 no-fault evictions per 10,000 rented households - or about one in 1,000.You can see the number and rate of no-fault evictions where you live using our interactive map.
