Mystery surrounds the death of an elderly farmer on the NSW mid-north coast after his body was found tangled in barbed wire on a property.
The 84-year-old man was found dead at a farm at Eungai Creek, about 30 kilometres north of Kempsey, on Friday night. He went for a walk at 5pm and family became concerned when he failed to return home, NSW Police said on Tuesday.He was found dead, about four hours later, near the property's entrance. The man's body was tangled in barbed wire but his injuries are being checked to see if they match dog bites, AAP understands.A dog was seized by council rangers following the grisly discovery.
Detectives say a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine how the man died and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
