"It's a major announcement that will underpin the state government's response to the housing crisis," Queensland's Deputy Premier Cameron Dick said.The Queensland government has pledged $2.8 million to tackle the housing crisis. There is also a target to build 53,500 new social homes by 2046, including youth foyers, domestic and family violence shelters and emergency housing.
