A non-governmental organisation, Women Aid Collective , has raised the alarm over the increasing cases of violence against women in Nigeria.
It stated yesterday in Enugu that no fewer than 2000 children of less than 18 years of age had been displaced from their homes in the last three years over domestic and divorce related issues. The organisation’s Executive Director, Prof. Joy Ezilo, said about 5000 women and children reported various cases of violence in their marriages and residences in the last three years.
She listed the cases as wife battery; rape; widowhood/girl child disinheritance; property dispossession and child abandonment.
What about cases of violence against men?
Violence against the women folks should be totally condemn by all men of good will and good home training.
Checklist for violence against women: (1) Family upbringing, (2) Foundation of their relationship, (3) Behavioural approach of women, (4) Economic situation, (5) Sexual satisfaction....
Violence against men are SERIOUS AND AS WELL NEGLECTED issues because men keep mute to avoid disgrace or simply because Women are sewn as weaker gender maryamsanda &co.
Frankly speaking, the issue of domestic violence overrides just about any forms of violence out there anywhere in Nigeria, Sadly it's brushed under the carpet, no want to!. or rather interested to speak about it. It's unacceptable.
