Buying a home is an exciting step in any couple's relationship, but a new study finds that it's a much more difficult step for same-sex couples to take.
A study published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found same-sex couples applying for mortgages are rejected more often and face higher rates. Same-sex couples were 73 percent more likely to be denied a mortgage than heterosexual couples with the same financial worthiness, according to an analysis of national mortgage data from 1990 to 2015. In addition, those who were approved for loans were given higher rates. Gay couples paid 0.

I would be interested to know if the rejections and higher interest rates apply more to women couples then men. It is harder for a women to get mortgages then man.
Mortgage? For a same sex couple? What about me? I'm trying to get a one bedroom apt. Not too elegant. We're four people. I have the $, the credit, and a good job. I was rejected because we're too many people. I'm the sole bread winner. Can't afford anything more.

Is it possible same-sex couples have behaviors that explains a higher level of rejection? Same-sex couples are typically not known for their motivation to provide for a family through stable employment. Also not known for lifelong commitments or relationship stability.
