A GoFundMe for an Alameda County firefighter recovering from burns sustained while putting out the Corral fire exceeded its goal since it was started a day ago.Brandon Franco, a 22-year-old firefighter with the Alameda County Fire Department, sustained several burns on multiple parts of his body while fighting the grass fire on June 1.
The GoFundMe page stated that Franco’s burns required surgery and additional procedures, but he is expected to make a full recovery. The donations accrued by the page will be used to support Franco’s ranch during his recovery, including covering essential supplies and making sure the animals and property are taken care of.
The organizers had set a goal to raise $30,000. As of Monday evening, more than 450 people and organizations had donated more than $45,000. The largest donation came from the Livermore Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation at $1,500.
