Villagers have been left sleep deprived and their properties covered in bird droppings due to birds nesting nearby.

Residents in Fintry say that the nuisance birds have left them ducking for cover to avoid bird poo, wakening them up in the early hours with squawking and even devaluing properties there.

Duncan McMaster, who lives in Culcreuch Avenue, says that the issue with the rooks has been ongoing for a number of years. He added: “You cannot sit out, hang a washing out and your vehicles are constantly messed on. This is classed as damage to everyone’s property. We are constantly washing our windows and garden furniture. He continued: “As for the noise, in the last month, I have been woken up at 4am every morning. This situation is causing sleep deprivation.

“Two years ago I had my property for sale and half of the viewers commented on the noise and mess from the crows”, he said.“My property obviously did not sell. This situation is devaluing my property. The birds seem to have more rights than the residents in Culcreuch Avenue.” “I am constantly woken up between 4 and 5am with them sitting on my windowsill – talk about sleep deprivation as a form of torture. When I moved into this house 11 years ago there were only a few but over the years they have multiplied to hundreds.”A spokesperson for Stirling Council said that they are aware of the concerns raised by the residents and understand their frustrations.
