They say it’s thanks to more police presence and business owners ramping up security. However, other property crimes are concerning area residents, including some living in District 8.
“We’re seeing a lot more kids, younger kids coming and carrying handguns," says district resident Brian Howell."They carry the handguns right outside so you can see them, in other words just leave me alone," says Howell. “Currently this year compared to last year, they're down citywide about 18 percent as far as burglary of vehicles they’re down 18 percent," says Asst. Chief Robert Blanton.
