A former RIT professor and his wife say their property was stolen at a popular Rochester hotel.

A heat advisory is in effect for WNY from noon today until 8pm Thursday. The heat index will range from 95 to 100 degrees.Rochester, N.Y. — A former RIT professor and his wife say their property was stolen at a popular downtown Rochester hotel last month.

According to the police report, Overgoor told authorities that the hotel's general manager went to that location and found his bookbag next to an unknown man. "They came back with my backpack and what it had in it was my laptop, my iPad and my immigration documents, but in completely different positions or spots," Overgoor said. "We have been in this battle with this manager to get the money back because he said he would make us whole, but now he’s claiming that there’s a big discrepancy between what we filed and what we said was missing.
