A man is recovering in hospital after a section of his home collapsed into a sinkhole on Tuesday morning in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.

He sustained injuries to his head and was treated by paramedics on the scene before being transported to hospital, ER24 said.

In videos posted on social media, part of the home and the property next to it lay mangled in the hole. Two vehicles can also be seen. The sinkhole is alleged to have been caused by heavy rains that battered the coastal province on Monday.
