A wet spring could be contributing to the rise in scorpions found in homes, but experts say there are ways to prevent entry.

Hot, dry summer weather is leading to a surge in scorpions invading homes in Texas.A heat advisory is in place across much of Texas, according to the National Weather Service , and although people's biggest concern with the hot temperatures should be keeping cool, they might also need to take precautions against any creepy crawlers, like scorpions, that are more prevalent in homes during the summer.

When reached for comment, a TPWD spokesperson told Newsweek that TPWD only has authority with certain native species. Newsweek reached out to the Texas A&M University etymology department by email for comment.Scorpions thrive in dry habitats and therefore are most commonly found in Texas homes in July and August, a webpage by Texas Bug Control said.
