Working from home can be more convenient – but it’s becoming a headache for one woman who lives in a noisy housing estate full of children.

In the past decade, more young families have moved in – which is “driving her mad”.“Since the weather has gotten better, every day after school the kids are out playing on the road, screaming and shouting like mad,” she told“They have also taken to drawing all over the footpaths in front of my house with chalk to play hopscotch.”

The children also come from “all directions” and the woman feels she cannot drive through the estate properly. “I was thinking of contacting the council to see if I can get some additional rules put in place, but my friends say I should speak to the parents first,” she said. Actress Mary McEvoy said the woman shouldn’t be asking how to get rid of the children – but why would she want to get rid of them.“This is the kind of children we want nowadays - the kind that get out, play hopscotch, have a bit of fun out exercising.”“The greater is good is served by these kids outside playing,” she said.Writer and broadcaster Barbara Scully said she had a similar concern about the children’s safety – but that’s up to the woman to address.

If the problem persists, the woman can always pack up and move to the quiet countryside, Barbara said.
