Passaic plans to reconstruct The Alfred Speer Village

Residents of the Alfred Speer Village in Passaic lost power for two days during the recent blackout. Speer Village, with 383 units, opened in 1953 and is the city's oldest and largest public housing project.The City of Passaic wants to make big changes to its oldest and largest public housing complex and is asking the federal government to declare the Alfred Speer Village “obsolete,” a first step toward demolishing two of the six high-rise towers and replacing them with new buildings.
