Nottingham City Centre News

Nottingham City Council

No reason had been given by Nottingham City Council for the neglect at his property near the Motorpoint Arena

A mountain of waste bags is continuing to build at a Nottingham property where the council hasn't collected the bins for six weeks. Resident Andrew Hood, who lives at the property near the Motorpoint Arena in the city centre, says he's beginnin to see rats crawling around near the smelly heap.

The 63-year-old said: "Those bags are full of refuse and food waste. They're going to start decomposing and attracting flies and rats. I've seen a couple. I'm running out of space as well. It's an environmental health risk." He was told by the councillor that a collection would be requested and an explanation sought. But nothing came back and he had to ask again, ten days later.

There was one phone call from an unnamed council employee, who tried to explain why the bins hadn't been emptied. But that was the extent of his verbal communication.
