'This is morally wrong and it's also fiscally unnecessary,' New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said.

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes it is time for the U.S. to address the impact of more than two decades of public housing cuts, which have left children in her district with lead poisoning and asthma issues, while, —she said—the government continues to hand out tax cuts to corporations"and the exceedingly wealthy."

"So, now we have about two decades of complete neglect and that bill for two decades of neglect is a lot bigger than if we had just invested in that routine maintenance," Ocasio-Cortez said. Meanwhile, children in the area"have blood lead levels hitting eight times the amount that prompts health department action," the politician said. This was a reference to New York's lead paint scandal, with tens of thousands of homes containing the harmful product."Eight-hundred children under the age of six living in NYCHA housing tested positive for high levels of lead between 2012 and 2016 during the federal disinvestment period.

Turning to Diane Yentel, President and CEO of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Ocasio-Cortez asked:"Ms. Yentel, do you believe that all of these horrific cases were necessary or were they unnecessary in terms of the government's disinvestment?" "I would," Yentel replied."I'd say that the funding that is required to keep those homes at a decent safe level has been underfunded for decades."

"Yet, at the same time, folks have the audacity to say that there's no money for public housing and that we can't afford for children to have clean blood and clean water. I mean this is morally wrong and it's also fiscally unnecessary."

Hmmmm 2012-2016. Refresh my memory. Was Obama President during that time?

Quite right Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez one should not lower the taxes for the rich or with good income. One has to raise in order to allocate resources to the weakest in society.

Does anyone else look at her and think 'Real life Lyanna Mormont'?

'This uneducated teenage acting, unstable witch keeps coming up with everything she can think of to sound smart! First of all: those people that live in those apartments are there to SUCK OFF OF THE SYSTEM TO BEGIN WITH and have THOSE KIDS to get more money!' - Jesus Christ 2019

Because it is morally wrong. And politicians from both parties fail to see it; that is why democracy is failing, because pigs are running the farm at WashingtonDC.

That’s not the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

But what do rich people think?

Guess AOC doesn't investigate for truths. Top 1% earners pay 1/3 of all income taxes and top 10% pay 73% of all taxes. Lower income pay 0 income tax and have no skin in the game. If she wants more money for the poorest then let's put a stop to the illegal immigrants!

So true ass h***

Tax cuts and housing issues have zero to do with each other, one is a state issue and one is a federal issue. Neither are connected in any way.

What she did to NY in regards to amazon disqualifies her for any opinion. She's clueless what tax cuts even mean.

Tax revenue grew. Her basic premise is incorrect.

Hey Alex, I’m sure your talking to the Slum Lords also.

Al Cortez not where you live . . how much has you income increased since you became a politician . . advocate my butt . .

There is no excuse!

Morally wrong? Really?

AOC do run for President one day. We do need an international leader with morals!!!! They seem to be lacking on the worldwide stage at the moment!

Sounds like a local issue. What does military spending have to do with a plumbing problem in NY? Nothing.

Impressive Lady!

Why did trump's 'tax bill' get passed? Because it was written and passed by millionaires which it benefitted.

So she’s talking about the housing already built and paid for by taxes and managed by slum lords? Oh and people who already get govt Subsidies and food stamps? You can’t make people take care of themselves or work to change their lives.

I suppose conservatives think that this line of thinking is also “stupid“ right? lol

Actions and choices have consequences. We live in a free country and if your actions and choices have led you to raising your children in a sewage filled apartment with lead paint, then that's on you. It isn't my 'moral responsibility' to fix peoples lives for them.

So obvious !! Keep on working !

Stop HUD set-asides. Used to be all money sent to cities in block grants. Cities decided on how money spent. Now, the rich, who could not control all local politics, have HUD and congress create special set-asides for them. Have all HUD money go back to block grants.

yes your right, vote to save Social Security. Help the seniors.

So ignorant

Democrats have kept minorities down for votes for decades.

Lead has not been used in paint for 50 years.

Maybe that's why socialism fails each time it's practised. An intellectually retarded generation infatuated with excesses of liberties wants to collapse US bcoz it's glaring evidence of the bankruptcy of socialist ideology. With US gone they can fool some

Great!

It’s morally wrong to take taxpayers money and give it to foreign nationals who undermine the fabric of the culture so many died for

aweful to hear this is happening

Typical leftist rhetoric, same old song and dance.

Haha... a DEMOCRAT complaining about the results of DEMOCRAT leadership. Wonder when she’ll start complaining about the conditions in Pelosi’s district? 😆

don't the cities' governments run the public housing...?

so let's take the hundred billion dollars a year we currently spend on illegal aliens and spend it on our own people instead

She's right.

It absolutely is.

She’s a hypocrite who is more concerned about cows farting than her own dilapidated district.

That lady shows why she was elected.

Sounds like a bronx problem! Whos their represenative?
