A Melbourne council has come up with an alternative North-East Link plan springst

Banyule Council in Melbourne’s north-east has released an alternative design for the $15.8 billion toll road, with a tunnel that is two kilometres longer than what is included in the current design.

The North East Link will be the biggest and most expensive road project in the state’s history, the government says. An open cut tunnel set to be dug alongside Greensborough Road would also require significant acquisition of private property and open space, including a rare patch of urban grazing land for kangaroos.
