Ibrahim Najjar and his family were preparing to spend the holy month of Ramadan fasting and praying when Syrian regime and Russian airstrikes pounded his village in northwest Syria, forcing them to flee to an olive orchard.
The 35-year-old father and his extended family of 23 people initially slept on blankets spread over the orchard’s dirt until strangers in the nearby town of Sarmada offered them two free rooms on Sunday, on the eve of Ramadan. Despite the temporary shelter, Mr. Najjar worries over what they will do next....
