Ford government rejects Toronto's plans for Yonge and Eg, downtown, wants more density

In July 2018, the City of Toronto made amendments to its official plan for the downtown core and the Yonge and Eglinton area.

“It’s my intention today to modify Official Plan Amendments 405 and 406 to send a number of modifications back to the city to really reflect our government’s priorities,” Clark said. In the city’s original plan amendment for Yonge and Eglinton, buildings constructed immediately adjacent to Eglinton Station were restricted to a height of 58 storeys on the northeast corner, 65 floors on the southeast corner and 27 to 37 floors on the northwest corner, with generally lower height restrictions on areas flowing out in each direction from the intersection.

“My message is to that that couple in their 20s or 30s who don’t see an opportunity around a major transit hub to live, that I’m providing them those opportunities, because those are voices are not presently heard right now in the planning process.”

Ford: yes build taller condos so you can fill my pockets

A man whose expertise is running his family’s sticky label company into the ground has now taken over planning for one of the world’s leading cities OnPoli

Shady Ford

Toronto has way too many tall buildings

Not everyone wants public transit close to home!!!!! The city of Toronto is uglier every day!!!!!!!

The city is already a slum full of construction and over population. Too many immigrants buying cheap & used cars. We would soon use helicopters to get to work.

Tory 'mystified' by Ford government's rejection of city's plans for Yonge and Eg and downtown

you tell em Dougie.

Ya Iv'e seen the downtown core with high rises's , you suckers pay high rent or buy them at inflated prices & for what so you can see your neighbours apt. building blocking your over paid view of Toronto. Ya you can keep it! I'll stay in the suburbs , less B.S & lower taxes!

There is already too much facking density at Y&E.

More density in the GTA leads to more traffic congestion and chaos & carnage on our roads. Public transit in the GTA is at least 25 years behind the population growth!!

This provincial government is bought & paid for by the developers and real estate agents. Totally corrupt.

Revenge politics. You didn’t vote for me, I’ll control you anyways.

Yes, just what Toronto needs, more overdevelopment... 🙄
