Residents have been evacuated from a small community in the south-west of Western Australia as three out of control bushfires put lives and homes at risk. The old timber town of Jarrahwood, 250 kilometres south of Perth, has been evacuated, but it is unclear if any homes have been lost."The fire is escaped from pine harvest debris that was being burnt," he said.
"Like a lot of people [they were] getting those burns in before it gets too wet. But unfortunately it's got out of control with really strong winds."A second fire that is burning through a pine plantation 22km south-west of Busselton is also at emergency level. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is managing both fires and its spokesperson Stefan de Haan said there were around 80 to 90 firefighters on site.
"They are battling them the best they can but obviously the situations is evolving quite rapidly," he said.
