Contractor rapped for damaging public property

Klang Consumer Association president Devadass Anjan said the road kerbs and drain culverts along Jalan Mengkuang were affected when the contractor dug the area to lay cables.“Public funds were used to construct the road kerbs, drain culverts and covers. Public property has been damaged,” he said.

Devadass urged MPK to ensure that the telecommunications firm is held accountable for the damage and made to pay for repairs. “MPK should determine the extent of the damage and compile photographic evidence for rectification works,” he said. MPK president Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin said the telecommunications firm had obtained permission for the earthworks.

“We will assess the damage to the asphalt road, concrete kerbs and drainage culverts. MPK will forfeit the amount needed for the repairs from the deposit given,” he said.
