An extended horse racing season and several new condo developments are taking home prices in this upstate New York community for a ride

Like the thoroughbreds that whip around the famed track here, real estate moves fast in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Last year, when Zane Carruth and her husband Brady Carruth were in for the horse races, they went to an open house for an eight-bedroom, five-bathroom, 5,000-square-foot Victorian mansion on Union Avenue, just a few blocks from the track. The couple, who live in Houston, fell in love with the home’s sprawling wraparound porch and decorative trim and put a $2 million offer down the next day.
