.NSWRFS has revealed 259 homes have been lost in the fires burning across New South Wales since Friday.

The Rural Fire Service has revealed 259 homes have been lost in the fires burning across New South Wales since Friday. Although conditions have improved, allowing crews to gain an advantage over several fires, the weather is predicted to turn this weekend and into next.

A severe fire danging remains in place for much of the NSW coast and eight total fire bans remain in place on Friday. Meanwhile, Queensland Police have charged a teenager over a fire that destroyed dozens of structures, including 14 homes this week. The 16-year-old is accused of starting a blaze at Cobraball near Yeppoon on Saturday. The teenager will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
