The NSW Rural Fire Service’s Ben Shepherd has said the “overall difference” to preventing more homes being lost in the fire emergency is “actually made by home owners”.

“Even if we bring in an extra 1000 firefighters, we still don’t have enough trucks and firefighters for every single home in NSW,” he

Under the current laws, property owners can cut down a tree within 10 metres of their home, and clear scrub within 50 metres of their property if they are within 100 metres of a bushfire-prone area.

Ofcoarse it is.and working on the worst case scenario for an ember attack is just the start

Interested to know in NSW are you allowed to clear undergrowth burn branches/leaves etc cut down trees
