Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton says the government wants 'the same rules that apply in our lifestyle offline to apply online.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton says the government wants "the same rules that apply in our lifestyle offline to apply online. Mr Dutton will on Tuesday unveil the code of conduct in the hope it will force manufacturers to use greater cyber security protection. The code will cover web-connected devices increasingly used in family homes, amid concerns their cyber security features are inadequate.

The home affairs minister told Sky News on Tuesday he wanted companies "to think more cleverly about the way in which they design these products". Mr Dutton made particular mention of online dating, saying he wanted to "make sure dating app companies have a special responsibility to look for predatory behaviour as well".
