BREAKING: Residents of Victoria's north and north-west have been urged to leave their homes as soon as possible as the region faces the worst fire conditions in 10 years.

People living in Victoria's north and north-west have been urged to leave their homes as soon as possible as the region faces the worst fire conditions in 10 years.

“If you live in those areas and a fire occurs, a fire will take your home. You need to make sure you are not there. Code Red says to us that we cannot control a fire if it starts. Move out tonight.”It is the first time a Code Red has been declared in Victoria since 2010. A total fire ban across the state has also been declared.

The decision to declare a Code Red is in response to predictions of soaring temperatures and strong winds.
