The Advertiser's Caleb Bond says "I think we have to be thankful in South Australia today" that the brutal fire conditions seen in New South Wales didn't have the same devastating effects in the state.
It comes as South Australian firefighters work around the clock, trying to gain the upper hand on dozens of fires raging across the state. About 14,000 homes had their power cut to try and limit the catastrophic fire danger. "We were expecting, more or less, what they had in New South Wales a couple of days ago," Mr Bond told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. "We've had it pretty lucky compared to the rest of the nation," he said.
