Jersey City has launched a free online portal that officials say will streamline access to affordable housing opportunities throughout the city and simplify an otherwise convoluted process for people needing affordable housing.
Mayor Steve Fulop made the announcement at a press conference Thursday morning and credited the Department of Housing, Economic Development, and Commerce , and the Division of Affordable Housing for the creation of the user-friendly Consolidated Affordable Housing Web Portal, New policies such as the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance and the Affordable Housing Overlay Zone have resulted in more approved units of affordable housing and the new portal will serve as a centralized hub where residents can search and instantly apply for affordable housing units in multiple buildings in one convenient location online, officials said.
