Newark’s efforts to create affordable housing are being recognized by the feds, which announced a $4 million grant to encourage New Jersey’s largest city to keep at it.

Newark was among 21 locales nationwide to share $85 million in grants under the Biden Administration’s new Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing program, or PRO Housing, city and federal officials announced Wednesday. The winners are the first grant recipients under the PRO Housing program run by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD.
