My understanding is that care home illnesses and deaths are not being reported in any country. This at least ensures like for like comparison.

Another poor piece of left wing journalism from the BBC. The ONS figures include care homes and this information is publicly available. This was clearly explained in one of the daily briefings of which a BBC journalist was present.

At the briefing yesterday it was said the nursing home figures are included in the total a few days later. It was on the BBC news channel.
There is no reason why the Government can't include non-hospital deaths, they just note that the figures from non-hospital cases are not up to date. They should also release the number of recovered... no figures since 22nd March when it was 135!
If staff in care homes aren’t tested then this is inevitable. If you work with high risk / vulnerable people then you should be highest priority for testing so you don’t spread it whilst asymptomatic.
