More than $110,000 has been raised in hours to help support locked down Victorians after they were told they could no longer leave their homes.

In an unprecedented move, Mr Andrews said not only would the inner-city towers, in Flemington and North Melbourne, be fully locked down for five days, but the area would be cordoned off to the general public, after another 108 cases of coronavirus were announced on Saturday.

Public housing towers in North Melbourne are now in immediate lockdown. A resident is pictured in their flat. Residents were told arrangements would be made for food and medications to be supplied to each household, and social and support workers were already at the buildings.

By overpaid unions, well they are part of the reason we're in this mess so that's fair.

What about the dealers?, will that be enough to cover their losses.

Haven’t we learnt from the many Bushfire Appeals?

The people in those buildings should be treated the same as locked down suburbs. The suburbs have 4 reasons to leave including essential shopping and work. Why are they being treated differently. Socio-economic reasons?

DictatorDan CedarAndrews

99% of these people make a career out of not contributing to society or the taxes that support them. They’re on double their welfare payments, reduced utilities and bills, get free heroin injecting rooms and don’t work. The narrative that they are ‘vulnerable’ is exhausting.

why has money been raised they get the dole every fortnight anyway

Wonder why no one raised money for me and the hotel quarantine cases? Locked up for weeks and no one cared. Will it be like the bushfire donations and sit in charity bank accounts forever?

I already give enough.

Why are we raising money for people in a state that are refusing tests

Daniel Andrews government should pay...I know that’s the taxpayer, but this is getting ridiculous! DictatorDan

I hope rather than giving the money direct to the residents or to fat cats in business it’s used to send in food packages, pay their rent, electricity and phone bills etc... jobseeker advice is free if you’re unemployed!

Sell one of the BMW’s in the car park. Will cover all their food bill easily.

Will probably end up the same as the millions raised for the bushfires. Months later and it’s still sitting on someone’s account?

They pay like $20 a week in rent, live off the Government and now have money raised for them 🤪

Great work Australia! Actually the Chinese Communist Party has started a bio war against the world half year ago! We must take action or get killed by CCP.

100 times that amount won't be stolen during the lockdown

How could DanielAndrewsMP lock down Black people like this? Doesn't he know that blacklivesmatter rules the world? I think he should resign for being so racist.

They don’t pay rent .

Melbourne public housing units locked down as Victoria records 108 new coronavirus casesResidents of nine public housing estates in inner Melbourne will be required to stay in their homes due to an outbreak of coronavirus cases. Daniel Andrews is now locking people in their apartments CCP style. Any reasonable person must see how that this is out of control authoritarianism that should have no place in our society. This is absolutely absurd. Many of these residents have addictions, mental health issues or experience domestic violence. Some regularly use the safe injecting rooms. How will 5 days in lockdown help this? They are at a great risk of hardship and risk to themselves. I hope they will be individually ensuring the economic and other safety and well-being of those residents
