The remains of the 65-year-old victim, Liew Han Chong, was found in the second-floor bathroom of his semi-concrete house following the midnight blaze.A three-year-old boy and his 32-year-old mother sustained minor burns as they managed to flee their burning house located next door.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department commanding officer Idy Nirwan Iliyas said when firemen reached the scene following a distress call at 12.24am, the two houses were already completely engulfed by flames.Idy said the injured victims were given preliminary treatment before they were taken to the hospital for further examination.The cause of fire is still being investigated.
