Of long term care homes in Ontario not fully air-conditioned, 57 are for-profit, 25 are non-profit and eight are municipally operated.

·Jacy Ruuhala, a North York resident, poses with her father in his long-term care home. There is no air conditioning in his room and he is suffering, she says.

Legislation passed last year requires air conditioning to be installed in all resident rooms at long-term care homes as of this year. According to the ministry, some homes have experienced delays in installing units in all rooms for a variety of reasons, including global supply chain issues, COVID-19 outbreaks and visitor restrictions preventing contractors from entering homes.Premier Doug Ford commits to mandating air conditioning in long-term care homes

"There's no air circulating. There's nothing. It's just humid, hot air. It's uncomfortable," she said.Dozens of Ontario care homes still without air conditioningResidents in dozens of long-term care facilities in Ontario are still living without air conditioning, despite new legislation. One woman is speaking out about what that's meant for her father in long-term care.

Here in #Ontario this is how we cool our loved ones in #LTC. Cool damp towel and repeat. We have no AC, nothing. And our #HCW are donned in PPE for entire shifts. #RepealBill124 @fordnation Our parents deserve better! #HCWdeservebetter pic.twitter.com/fLC14pfCGzVivian Stamatopoulos, an associate teaching professor at Ontario Tech University and a long-term care advocate, said it's a "systemic failure" that air conditioning is not in place in all long-term care homes in Ontario.

This was the case before the provincial election but you guys chose to ignore that and many other Ford Failings.. Good job!🤦‍♂️ CdnMediaFailed

suzilaur The Feds could declare a public health emergency and nationalize LTCs.

suzilaur And the majority of those non-compliant LTCs are ‘for-profit’. Any of those LTCs that paid dividends to shareholders before securing the health and safety of residents should be investigated.

Their generation reaping the benefits of the ultra capitalist society they built

That must be tough work your whole life then no air conditioning.hope they have ice cream and a fan.

Come on!!! We have to do better for our elderly! It’s our responsibility to Care!!!!!! Please!!!! They are very important!!!!!

Another of many and many more promises by 'Where is Ford'

When I worked as a paramedic I saw horrible horrible things in these facilities.

Fine them 100k a week. Or forfeit your right of ownership to government

Looks like they want seniors to die after deserting them when infection health nurses were needed but left them understaffed during covid early beginnings. If it wasn’t for ONA nurses telling Ford what to do and charging him more would be gone.

Most do not have ventilation, so they have to, use window AC!! Why are the loved ones not bringing in, window AC!! Always looking to broke governments, to pay their way! TAXPAYERS!!

When I retire I will make sure I have enough money so that I don’t have to go to a LTC facility Sounds like a place to go to die

I would like to see how many of the 57 for profit residences still to be upgraded with air conditioning are operated by the Chartwell Retirement group. The Mike Harris homes FYI. Just curious is all…

give everyone an air conditioner and CanadawideUBI now!

What did the 90 residences do last year, and the year(s) before? What a coincidence! Nothing suspicious.

But we did get our license plate refunds! Way to go!!!

Unacceptable

When I worked in long term care homes, the residents would complain about how cold it was with AC on. We could not turn it on in dining area or halls because of complaints. We kept a few 'common' areas with AC on. But, we did other preventative measures with this

Meanwhile, fordnation approved new contracts with several of the companies that run nursing homes that had issues in how they operate.

fordnation nice iron ring dougie

Ffning fix it. These are your most vulnerable citizens, stop wasting money on supporting Nazissm in Ukraine and spend it on these precious souls.

It's almost like that report by the Army about the Neglectful conditions in our Care Homes (causing more death than Covid) fell on deaf ears.

Government can hand out $2000 a month to undeserving thieves by the millions, but can't buy air conditioning units for the elderly. SHAME JustinTrudeau

how is this even possible

It is absolutley shameful how Canada treats our seniors. fordnation JustinTrudeau

But the other 2,500+ do. There. Fixed the narrative.

That's unacceptable

put me to death before you place me in a home. thank you.

We had to buy our own wall mounted unit for my Baba when she was in there. The hallways where always stifling.

Long term care is the absolute sh*ts in Ontario.💩 28% 'excess deaths' in 2020 in Ontario compared to 4% in British Columbia.

I am sure that our cheesecake inhaling gastropod of a premier fordnation fixed this already.

Thanks fordnation

Doug Ford continues to hoard money while more grandparents are dying .

'The previous government's fault'.

fordnation getting it done...increasing LTC profits.

That's not an issue for Trudeau who is very comfortable tonight

MoriartyLab fordnation wtf…

Liberals...

Liberals....

Long term care homes have no air conditioning because of the Unvaccinated.

fordnation and they were without prior to the election cbc why not report it then?

Ninety long term care homes have no air conditioning because of the Unvaccinated.

Why just why

This is inhumane.

So 537 homes have a/c. Wasn’t long ago the leftards were whining that a/c was causing the climate to change.

Not eco friendly, Trudeau won’t allow it.

As long as everyone is fully vaccinated I don't see the problem.

'Of those not fully air-conditioned, 57 are for-profit, 25 are non-profit and eight are municipally operated.' Not acceptable. You can blame Ford if you want, but the blame sits with all who run these homes. Should have never been an option to not have AC.
