Echuca locals have worked through the night to build a levee bank in the hopes to protect thousands of homes from major flooding.

Nicholls MP Sam Birrell says, “now it’s just a waiting game to see if that levee can hold – if it does, a large proportion of the town will be saved”.

Mr Birrell said up to 190 houses are going to be “sacrificed” because they are on the wrong side of the levee.
