Thousands of households in Glasgow have been left without water after a main burst in Milngavie caused flooding. Scottish Water say it is impacting the water supply to around 100,000 properties in parts of the city.
The authority later located the burst main on Auchenhowie Road in Milngavie, which causing flooding in the area, majorly affecting Glasgow Road in nearby Bearsden. Local nursery Lullaby Lane had to be evacauted, with kids and staff taken in by neighbours Rangers FC at their Auchenhowie training complex. They confirmed on Twitter that everyone was "safe, happy, & warm".
Customers are experiencing no water, low pressure or discoloured water supplies. Scottish Water hopes to have isolated the burst soon and implement changes to the network to restore supplies later this evening. It will then carry out an emergency repair as quickly as possible. "Our teams are currently working alongside the police and fire service, and as soon as more information becomes available, we will be in touch."
Its Milngavie, not Bearsden.
