One of Dublin’s oldest flat complexes, left derelict since it was damaged by fire 18 years ago, has been refurbished for social housing at a cost of €9 million

Five of the seven remaining residents were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. One fireman was also taken to hospital after suffering minor burns.

In 2017 the council approached Tuath to redevelop the complex. The existing flats were sold to the housing association for €2,794 and the redevelopment, which involved an extension to the flat block to provided 19 apartments, along with three houses, was funded by the Department of Housing. Speaking at an event to mark the completion of works, Tuath chief executive Sean O’Connor said despite the difficulties of the development, it was a worthwhile project.

This is good news surly for families in the area needing a home

Will the Irish get it?

Lol. It’s just a piss take at this stage.

Shocking pay loads of tax for this....home 2 years and I'm leaving as far as I can you would not see this in other country...for genuine people ye deserve it for all the rest what a piss take

🤔🤔🤔I wonder who'll qualify for those

€410,000 per apartment yikes.

Only took 18yrs🥴

So thats another 9million to houses refugees to the bill

Glorified hotel living, no family/children facilities = down the line will lead to anti social behaviour

Lots of taxpayers money for a few flats. Taxpayers will be heavily subsidising the rent as well presumably

If I stop working can I get a luxury apartment in the city centre of the capital also?

To house the trafficked criminals that are being imported into the country? Corruption

they look fancier than most luxury private apartments, why should the tax payer be funding luxury for people - it should be bare bones and if they are not working in the city or not born in the area, then they should not be getting to live in the city while we all have to commute

While people are paying out more on mortgages, let's give these to those who never want to work and pay only 15% of their dole on rent. But considering council owed millions in rent who is actually paying.

I wonder who will be getting them? People 8 yrs on the waiting list or are there queue hoppers?
