Bob Davis is being evicted from his Sydney rental home of 30 years and doesn't like his chances of finding something else in the city's white-hot market. Housing policy has become a battleground ahead of the state election.

"At our age, you can't just walk around and around trying to get accommodation for God's sake," June said.

Corelogic's latest data found rent for houses had grown fastest in the Sydney suburbs of Woolooware, Loftus, Clovelly and Bondi. For units, it's Haymarket, Zetland, Chippendale and Rosebery. Despite their stable incomes, the scarcity of available properties and a looming three-week deadline to move out is piling on the pressure.

"Rental listings are well below average and there's no sign there's any more rental stock being added to the market," he said. Opposition Leader Chris Minns has put a stake in the ground on rental issues, and Labor has promised to outlaw evictions without reasonable grounds if elected.

Why are we wasting money on the Voice BS when we have a housing crisis?

A great way to treat our older generation, they can't afford private rentals, and hardly any Govt. assisted rentals now either. Our young people can't afford to buy or rent, the elderly can't afford to rent and won't get a loan to buy. The only ones doing well are the politicians

It won't be easy under Albernese.

It's a Shamble .

Name and shame the rentees, cos they will do it to everyone. Government freeze rents and stop evictions.

Bob problem is governments sold him out.

Negative gearing? No problem. Capital gains tax concessions? No problem. Short term rentals? No problem. Unlimited housing loans made? No problem.

Bob might have to move into Albanese rentals

Bridging in another 300k imports should fix it! Right Albo?

Bob should understand that we must send large amounts of money to the Ukraine to 'defend democracy' ....or something.... of a made up puppet regime, but he gets evicted. These are our values. More mass immigration, too, please.

This is absolutely disgusting. When pitchforks ? This has all been done on purpose. - Housing should never be a speculative investment asset - Never-ending Mass immigration hurts regular Australians, badly. - Remove most zoning regulations.

I don't get it... what property owner would kick out mature renters who pay their rent and look after their property for 30 years and risk it for an unknown and a few bucks ! After 30 years the owners should have paid this property off !

ABC registering a problem it is complicit in creating. Example number 100000... Silence on immigration-fed population growth = complicity in housing and rental crisis, Environmental loss, health & education crises, inflation (demand) ...you name it!

Tell Bob we got millions of immigrants to bring in because we are trying to save the environment 😂 & he will have to compete harder.

How good is bigAustralia! Promoted by the ABC for decades.

Especially when you have Meriton encouraging their people to gouge the hell out its tenants! Time for governments to stop approving Meriton developments!

This mess was created by the greedy parasites such as agents, pollies, wanna be land lords and mental Super low interest rates.

Another 600million dollars to Ukraine please Airbus Albo!

Yore mates in our Communist Govt keep letting in hundreds of thousands of 'immigrants' who all need somewhere to stay as well. They take rental properties from Aussies/our kids & force up rental prices 4 others. + Bob is a white male=under yore lefty doctrine, he deserves nada

More reason to tax companies achieving super profits at the public’s expense. More reason to adopt the reform for people with $3m+ in their super. Etc etc

Importing another 500,000 people from overseas should help. That's the government's plan. ABC never does stories about migration in terms of housing crisis though because that might annoy the corporations that make money out of it, or get called 'racist' by their PR agents

Bob seems to be a white straight male. Bob can't be a victim. Defund the ABC.

Did Bob vote for LNP, Labor, Greens or teals? This is your fault. You let an election proceed while you watched LNP, Labor, Greens, teals, MSM and elites avoid any discussion on immigration. Australia is being scammed, and ABC are RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.

Unacceptable in such a wealthy country.

ABC caused this housing crisis. Let's hear your solution.

ABC journalists should let Bob move in with them. I think Bob would like Balmain, Glebe, Double Bay.

Caused by greed from the governments (high council rates and taxes, banks (interest rates), insurance companies (Corporation fees) and landlords

A boarding house.

AustralianLabor 's HousingCrisis Immigration at x4 the average. Plus a record amount of foreign student-workers. All to keep business profits & property 👆& wages 👇 The ALP no longer a party for Aus workers or the marginal. They represent business now, not us. auspol

And there are plenty more like Bob and his sis. Rent stress has been defined at being 30% of an income..with welfare participants, it's a constant 50-60%. Paid by the taxpayer..straight into a landlord's bank account. Humanitarian problem on the horizon?

AustralianLabor 's housingcrisis Elsewhere on twitter you can see their MPs celebrating immigration at x4 the average, or a record amount of foreign student-workers An easy policy fix is to return immigration to the average. But ALP represent corporations, not us. auspol

Bob & June could share if they find a rental.

ABC just remembered not everyone is a rainbow or fake indigenous.

Bring in anothe 200,000 per every year. That'll fix it. (Satire)

Meanwhile, albo is partying… again.

Sadley for Bob, he's not in a great position. Might have to share?

You've been silent about the Bobs of this world for years. Why the sudden interest?

‘It will be a disaster’: mayor’s dire warning over developer-led housing outside SydneyAgreement to provide infrastructure ‘at no cost to government’ in Wilton has resulted in muddled roads, blocks sold with no sewerage service – and it’s set to get worse Classic real estate scam. Sell all the lots then skip “Phase 3” and bail. Frankly IMO all new land developments must: . Not be smaller than 600 sq metres . Must have a min of 20% green space . Have solar panels 10k . Solar Hot water . Min 50000 litre water storage . EV charging . Public green space . Multiple access to development . Public transport Ahhhh, but look at the flow of developer gold that fills the wallets of our political parties! Too irresistible. Can’t wait for emfarrelly to shake their tree!

Mum and dad investors quit housing for fast food and petrol stationsAs investors sell out of residential property, they are reinvesting the money into small commercial property assets on long leases to major retail tenants. JaimeeVey Petrol stations? I thought we all drive EVs soon 🤦‍♂️ The same hack real estate agents who spruiked fixed 2% rental increases on these assets 3 years ago, only for inflation to leave them in the dust. Nerds.
